The purpose of the Alterra Foundation is to support and foster the tasks of the General Anthroposophical Society (www.goetheanum.org) in areas including social and economic sciences, medicine, agriculture, pedagogy and the arts. The tasks of the General Anthroposophicial Society include developing spiritual scientific perspectives in relationship to the fields of activity indicated above. In particular, the Alterra Foundation seeks to promote the development of a new, values-based economy through the development of social finance and the engagement of civil society.
Alterra Foundation was founded in September 2010 and received its charitable status from the Swiss Federal Foundation Oversight Authority.
